Runner-up in 2009 in only his second year in the elite class, Jorge Lorenzo pushed team mate and rival Valentino Rossi hard all the way in another dazzling display. The 2008 Rookie of the Year, Lorenzo followed his outstanding debut season up with a title challenge last year and was one part of a fantastic duel that captivated MotoGP fans, his battle with Rossi at Catalunya was one of the highlights of the season. A tally of four wins was accompanied by several crashes which affected his chances of taking a first premier class title, but the double 250cc World Champion is again a serious contender for the 2010 crown in his third season in the class.
