Hailing from Valencia in Spain, Hector Barbera is another of the exciting young rookies in the premier class in 2010 as he rides a satellite Ducati Desmosedici GP10 and is the single rider entry for Team Aspar in MotoGP. It was the Aspar structure which launched Barbera's career in the World Championship in 2002, when as a 15 year-old he established himself in the 125cc class. A first victory at Donington Park in 2003 made him one of the youngest riders ever to win a Grand Prix and he placed third overall in only his second campaign. After a runner-up spot the following year, Barbera made the move up to 250cc and steadily improved, recovering from a serious back injury sustained in Japan in 2008, and was second in the last 250 championship in 2009.
